LED Elektro: bespoke WordPress theme for an electrical contractor

The brief was a WordPress site for an electrical contractor – concept, design, copy and technical implementation from a single provider. The four service areas – electrical installation, smart home and energy, security and service – were to get dedicated pages, typical questions from private and business clients be answered in advance and enquiries taken through a form. At the same time, the technology had to carry the group: one theme and one plugin for all four domains.

The LED Theme is a standalone WordPress theme by NK IT Service: a dark design in the company colours red, green, blue and grey, a mega menu (a multi-column drop-down menu) with four service groups and an icon for every entry, and on mobile a dedicated menu with accordion sections (groups that expand on tap). It works without a page builder; content lives in the WordPress block editor (the standard editor, which arranges content in blocks) and can be maintained without extra tools. The LED Site Bootstrap plugin controls the site and sets up pages, menu, logo, master data, contact form and legal texts for each domain in the group: one shared codebase (programme code) for four websites.

The site comprises 27 URLs in its own sitemap. The home page opens with a hero slider (rotating full-width images at the top of the page) of five scenes, followed by the services overview, seven partner logos, four reasons to choose the company, a section on the group with a photo of the vehicle fleet, and the location map. The 13 service pages each have their own hero image (a large image at the top of the page), a breadcrumb (path navigation), body copy and five to six FAQs (frequently asked questions) as expandable sections that work without JavaScript. Alongside these are an About page with a timeline from 2015 to 2026, a References page with six anonymised projects and 17 partner and brand logos, Careers, News with posts, Contact, the legal notice and the privacy policy. The copy was written by NK IT Service; the hero images come from Adobe Stock, with credits listed in the legal notice.

Data protection and search engine essentials are handled in the site's own code rather than in third-party plugins. An in-house cookie dialogue with the categories Necessary and External Maps stores the visitor's choice for 180 days and can be revoked via the “Cookie-Einstellungen” (cookie settings) link in the footer; Google Maps loads only after a click on “Karte laden” (load map) over a preview image; the fonts are served locally; and the server sends security headers (instructions to the browser, for instance against embedding the site in other pages). The contact form submits via AJAX (without reloading the page) and protects itself without a captcha service through a honeypot (an invisible field that only spam bots fill in), a changing arithmetic question and a WordPress nonce (a one-time key against forged submissions); a privacy checkbox records the visitor's consent. For search engines, the site's own code delivers titles, descriptions, canonical tags (the main address of each page), Open Graph (previews when a link is shared) and JSON-LD (the common format for structured data) for the business, services, FAQs and breadcrumbs, with no SEO plugin.
