What exactly is device protection or complete cover?
Device protection is an insurance policy for individual devices such as a smartphone, notebook or tablet. It covers damage that goes beyond the manufacturer's warranty – a cracked screen, a drop or liquid damage, for example. We arrange the cover and act as your local contact when you claim, instead of leaving you to fight your way through a hotline on your own.
Do you provide the insurance yourselves?
No – we are not an insurer. We arrange suitable device protection (through partners such as Wertgarantie, for example) and handle the claim for you. That way you get the insurer's cover, but with a permanent, reachable contact in Rastatt at your side.
What does device protection cost per month?
That depends on the value of the device and the level of cover you choose. Low-cost policies for simple devices start at a few euros a month; for high-value notebooks or extensive cover including theft the premium is higher. Before you sign we tell you the exact premium and any excess – with no hidden costs.
Is theft always included?
Not automatically. Theft is often only included at higher policy levels and is tied to conditions, such as reporting the theft to the police. Simply losing a device is usually not covered. Which level includes theft cover, and whether that is worth it for you, we discuss honestly beforehand.
Is there an excess when I claim?
That varies from policy to policy. Some policies have no excess; with others you pay a fixed amount yourself when you claim – 50 or 100 euros, for example. We point this out clearly before you sign, so there are no surprises when it matters.
How quickly do I have to report damage?
As quickly as possible. Most providers set a deadline of 7 to 30 days from the date of the incident. It is best to contact us as soon as something has happened – we set everything else in motion and make sure no deadline is missed.
Can I insure used or older devices too?
Often yes, but with restrictions. Many providers insure devices up to a certain age and may ask for proof that the device works, or for photos. The most straightforward option is cover taken out when you buy new. For older devices we check individually what is possible.
Is device protection worth it for businesses too?
For businesses in particular the cover can pay off, because downtime costs money and several mobile devices are in use. A protected laptop that is quickly back in service is often worth more in daily work than the device itself. For business customers in Rastatt we find the right solution – for several devices as well.
What is not covered?
Typical exclusions are pre-existing damage, damage caused deliberately, normal cosmetic wear (scratches without loss of function) and, depending on the policy, simply losing the device. Here too: the details are in the terms, and we go through them with you before you sign, so you know exactly where you stand.
Do I need device protection if I have contents insurance?
Contents insurance usually only applies to burglary or damage at home – not to a phone dropped while you are out or to a cracked screen. Device protection covers exactly these everyday incidents. Whether the two usefully complement each other in your case we will tell you honestly, without selling you anything you do not need.
How do I cancel the cover if I no longer need it?
Device protection contracts can usually be cancelled monthly or annually – the exact notice periods are in the contract. If you no longer use a device or no longer need the cover, we help you cancel as well. We want you to pay only for as long as it makes sense for you.
