What does data recovery at NK IT Service cost?
The initial analysis is always free. For the recovery itself you receive a binding fixed price in advance that depends on the damage. As a guide: logical cases (deleted files) start in the low hundreds, while mechanical cleanroom or RAID recoveries cost more. You decide at your own pace after the quote – no pressure and no hidden costs.
What does “No Data – No Fee” mean?
Quite simply: if we cannot recover your data, there is no charge for the recovery. You only pay in the event of success, for the data actually restored. The only exceptions are possible shipping or donor-part costs, which we discuss openly with you in advance. That way you carry no financial risk for an attempt that does not succeed.
My device is making clicking noises – what should I do?
Switch it off immediately and do not turn it on again. Clicking, ticking or grinding almost always points to mechanical damage – every further attempt can scratch the platters and make recovery impossible. Unplug the cable, leave the device untouched and bring it to us. Please avoid software tools and any tapping or freezer tricks.
Can you guarantee a 100 per cent recovery?
No – and nobody working reputably can. How much can be recovered depends on the medium, on the damage and on what happened to the device beforehand. In many cases the data can be restored in full. In the free analysis we tell you honestly what your chances are, before any costs arise.
Do you also recover data from SSDs, USB sticks and memory cards?
Yes. Besides classic hard drives we recover data from SSDs and M.2 drives, USB sticks, SD and memory cards as well as RAID and NAS systems. SSDs and sticks use different technology from hard drives, so we read the controller and the flash memory directly – and here too the same rule applies: the earlier and the less it has been touched, the better.
Can you restore data from a RAID or NAS?
Yes, that is one of our strengths. With a RAID array (RAID 0, 1, 5, 10) or a NAS we reconstruct the logic of the system and first secure every drive individually. Important: do not swap drives yourself and do not start a rebuild – that often overwrites data. Switch the system off and describe the setup to us.
What about data from a smartphone?
Photos, contacts and messages can often be recovered from smartphones too – for example after water or drop damage, or when the screen is broken. The chance of success depends heavily on the model, the encryption and the type of damage. We assess each case individually and tell you honestly what is possible.
How long does the data recovery take?
The free analysis is usually quick. Logical recoveries are often done within one to three working days; mechanical cleanroom or RAID cases generally take longer, above all when donor parts have to be sourced. After the analysis we give you a realistic timeframe – and an express service is available for urgent cases.
Is my data safe and confidential with you?
Absolutely. Your data is processed solely for the recovery, treated confidentially and never passed on. On request we verifiably delete all copies once the handover is complete. We work in line with the GDPR and discuss particularly sensitive content – business or patient data, for example – in person beforehand if you wish.
Can I not simply try recovery software myself?
With purely logical problems on an otherwise working drive that can turn out fine. Whenever hardware damage is suspected – clicking, not detected, after water damage – we strongly advise against it: the software keeps the faulty device running and often overwrites exactly the data that could still have been saved. When in doubt, switch it off at once and ask us.
Do I have to come to you in Rastatt?
You are welcome to bring the medium to us in Rastatt in person – then we advise you directly. Secure shipping from anywhere in the region is possible too; we tell you how to pack the device safely for transport. Once we are finished you receive your data back on a new storage medium, for collection or by post.
